Be a part of something special - Join us for the 29th annual Power of the Purse!

This is more than a fundraiser to support UWSC initiatives and programs; it’s a celebration of generosity and empowering the women in our community. Attendees will enjoy fellowship with passionate people, a delicious lunch, inspirational stories from a motivational speaker, and an opportunity to win trendsetting designer bags.

2026 Keynote Speaker

Britaney Gomez

In November 2017, Britaney Gomez was responsible for a devastating accident that resulted in the deaths of two women—a mother and her adult daughter. Britaney was 16 years old at the time and was tried as an adult.

While serving her sentence at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, Britaney made a conscious decision to use her time to change the direction of her life. Through her actions, determination, and commitment to personal growth, she earned the respect of both facility staff and her peers. She was escorted from the facility on multiple occasions to speak at “Every 15 Minutes” programs hosted by CHP on high school campuses, sharing her experience and encouraging young people to understand the serious consequences of their choices.

In 2025, Britaney was selected to represent the first all-female graduating class of her Wildland Fire Academy program as Leader of her crew—a reflection of the leadership and growth she demonstrated throughout her training.

Since her release in June 2025, Britaney has continued to build a career centered around serving others. She successfully obtained her Firefighter 1 State Certification and Emergency Medical Technicians License. She has also volunteered with Westport Fire Department and served her community through various volunteer efforts.

Britaney is currently training as an emergency department scribe at a local hospital while continuing to pursue her long-term goal of advancing her career.

- 211 Stanislaus County: Individuals in our community have 24/7 access to a caring team driven to connect them to resources when facing crises, barriers, or emergency needs.

- VITA: Free income tax assistance for low-income families provided by dedicated volunteers.

- Capacity building initiatives that build opportunities for local nonprofits to access innovative resources and guidance for sustainable organization effectiveness.

- Wherever gaps in service exist or whenever emergency needs arise, your generosity allows UWSC to immediately respond with impactful support focused on the health and well-being for our community members.

  • The 29th Annual Power of the Purse is being held at the Gallo Center for the Arts located at 1000 I Street, Modesto, CA, 95354. The event runs from 11 am - 1:30 pm, with doors opening at 10:30 am.

  • Click HERE to access the guest and sponsor registration page. Individual registration is $100 per guest. Purchase your ticket now before they sell out!

  • Yes! The deadline to purchase and pick up raffle tickets ahead of time is Friday, September 18, 2026, by 12 pm.

    Winners do not need to be present at the event. If unclaimed, the winning raffle ticket holder will be contacted directly after PoP.
