Amazon / United Way Food Delivery
The United Way of Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties have been working in partnership with Amazon, Second Harvest of the Greater Valley, and the Housing Authority in both counties on a food delivery project. We utilized the strength of each organization to provide this project. United Ways selected and organized the multiple partners, Second Harvest of the Greater Valley purchased the food and provided a location for packing food boxes. Amazon provided the funding, volunteers, drivers and logistics of the food delivery. This pilot project was provided from 10/30/20 to 12/23/20. It resumed in May 2021 and will continue until 12/31/21 serving students and families at Robertson Road Elementary School.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
United Way of Stanislaus County has helped residents receive free income tax preparation for over a decade. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS initiative designed to support free tax preparation services for the underserved through various partner organizations such as United Way. This service helps low- to moderate-income individuals, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speakers file their taxes each year. 211 of Stanislaus County is a vital partner as appointments are made countywide through 211. United Way offered three on site preparation sessions in its offices in the spring of 2021.
Provisions Project
The Provisions Project is a collaboration between United Way of Stanislaus County, Love Our Neighbors and Ann Endsley, owner of Greens on 10th. Ann Endsley had a desire to serve meals to those in need during COVID-19. To address this need, fresh prepared meals are delivered weekly to seniors at various sites. The meals are nutritious, hearty and ready to eat. In this partnership, United Way of Stanislaus County secured the funding and the locations, Ann’s culinary crew prepared the gourmet meals, and Love Our Neighbors provided the deliveries utilizing their dedicated volunteers. This pilot project was provided from 2/11/21 through 4/29/21. It began again on 7/14/21 and will continue through 12/31/21.
